Consider the Transmuter

Commonly found in an industrious setting. True Transmuters are craftsman and build "things". They seem to thrive in occupations requiring some kind of engineering knowledge though a few become merchants and such. They have a way to them akin to Artecifiers. Though from my little knowledge of them they are far more open to discussion with commoners and not seen as a magic user by mundanes but rather as something other (I know Wizards see them as handicapped). A common misconception is the assumption that they can change you into a toad. But I've never found any evidence to back this up.

The really bizarre thing about this tradition is that it exists out of nessecity rather than being a philosophy. Transmuters are a gifted rather than learnt tradition. They cannot effect a "magical" effect, rather only change things. Which is why they tend to end up in a constructive occupation. Why build out of stone when you can build out of wood and change it to stone. Of coarse there is a limitation in that the effort required to "shift" (they're word, not mine) from one element to another is high. It could take anywhere up to three hours to "shift" an wooden arch to stone for your average Transmuter.
